Fast forward 12 years (yes, the first ones launched at Apple’s WWDC in July 2000) and today we’re happy to introduce the arrival of the wireless version. The first iteration of the forward looking speaker system was of the wired ilk, and rightfully so as when it first arrived Airplay didn’t exist, and the iPhone was simply an idea. And it continues to be the point of focus, at least in the New York City Museum of Modern Art, where it has become a “permanent fixture” – in what capacity we don’t know. Harmon Kardon’s SoundStick speaker system drew headlines when it first appeared many years ago.
